This is Kashmir.
She was born in Michigan. And spent the last 10 years in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
Now that she has moved with me to Alaska She is never far from the heater.
Here I have my "propane fireplace" Which supplements most of my homes heat.
The small heater heats the metal objects and keeps the house around 70 degrees… Much more efficient and economical then heating fuel and central heat. Go figure…

Ex High Street Bank Manager Shows Budding Property Investors The Ropes In New Book

Ex High Street Bank Manager Shows Budding Property Investors The Ropes In New Book

(PRWEB) November 11, 2005

Up until May 2004 Peter Stanley, from Manchester, was a corporate manager for one of the big four high street banks. He’d worked with this company for 14 years.

But, like many seemingly successful career people, deep inside he craved the freedom to be his own boss and do what he loved away from the corporate treadmill.

So, in his spare time he began building his own rental property portfolio and, given the success he achieved working just a few hours a week, he was quickly able to jump ship and become a full time property investor.

Spurred on by his own success and realising many other people were also sick of working every hour to make other people rich, Peter set out to educate budding property investors with his own “Property Made Simple” workshops and programmes which have received wide acclaim from

participants.

His first book, by the same name, is written for “absoulte beginners” giving readers the skills, confidence and know-how to get on the property investing ladder so they can sack their boss, and work the hours they like, too.

Peter says, “We’ve all watched the TV property programmes and thought that it looks easier than going to the office every day. And we all know at least one person who made his money in property and retired to Spain. But many of us never even try it ourselves because we have that nagging doubt at the back of our minds… ‘Surely, if it’s so easy, everyone would be doing it?’

He continues, “Well even if it’s not easy it can be simple which is why I decided to write this honest, plain english, little book that I wish I’d had when I was starting out.”

The eBook launches this week (exclusively at http://www.bookshaker.com)

and the paperback edition will be available at Amazon and all good bookshops early in 2006.

Peter Stanley

Peter recently resigned from his job with a high street bank where he rose to the level of corporate bank manager over the 14 years he was there. He previously worked for another bank, but left after 3 years as things weren’t happening quickly enough. Despite a number of job opportunities in other cities and countries, Peter has remained in his home town of Manchester.

Over the last 5 years, Peter has researched property investment, having seen a number of colleagues and customers make money from property and after much deliberation and procrastination, decided to take the plunge and make his first foray into the “buy to let market” Since then he has bought further properties in South Manchester and is looking to expand his portfolio rapidly since his departure from the

nine to five.

His experience of property renovation started with his first house, bought in 1995, because he wanted to live in a nicer area than he could afford. He bought a house at a good discount due to the work needed. If he had known then, what he knows now, he would probably have passed on the opportunity. Discounting the usual bathroom and kitchen kind of jobs, he reroofed the house, replaced the ground floor

joists and floorboards, re-installed the cast iron fireplaces, rewired, demolished and rebuilt walls, removed lead piping, so that the only thing that remained the same was the house number!

In his spare time, he likes to play pinball, throw boomerangs, although it’s usually a stick, fly kites, play scalextric and anything to do with cars – probably to prove that growing older doesn’t mean growing up. His wife has joked that he could talk about cars all day if given the opportunity.

Pellet Heat Gaining Traction as Viable Renewable Home Energy

Pellet Heat Gaining Traction as Viable Renewable Home Energy

Pellets produce clean heat when burned in free-standing pellet stoves and pellet fireplace inserts.

Minneapolis, MN (Vocus) October 5, 2010 —

Living greener lifestyles and reducing our impact on the environment is becoming increasingly more important to U.S. consumers and homeowners. Also gaining traction is awareness and usage of a time tested, but recently popularized approach to renewable home energy – heating with pelletized fuel in free-standing pellet stoves and fireplace inserts.

Generally made from recycled wood byproducts, pellets are a cost stable, low carbon fuel that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions when used as an alternative to fossil fuels such as heating oil, propane and natural gas.

Over the past 10 years, several factors have led to increased interest in pellet heating. Organizations like the Pellet Fuels Institute have successfully campaigned for green heating with pellets, contributing to nearly a million installations of pellet appliances in homes and businesses. Stove manufacturers like Harman and Quadra-Fire have also improved the technology and aesthetics of the appliances, making them more attractive and easier to operate and maintain. In addition, the U.S. government is promoting pellet heat with a 30 percent tax credit of up to $ 1,500 for homeowners who purchase a pellet stove or fireplace insert by Dec. 31, 2010.

“Today’s pellet stove technology is light-years ahead of what it was even 10 years ago, making heating with renewable pellet fuel a practical option for many households,” said Dan Henry, vice president, advanced technologies for Quadra-Fire and Harman. “Many models can produce steady, regulated heat for up to 24 hours on a single load of pellets, with minimal ash clean up. Due to pellet density and high burn efficiencies, the stoves emit extremely low outside air particulates, helping to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases associated with fossil fuels.”

Many homeowners would like to utilize renewable energy, but the cost of solar panels, geothermal heat pumps and wind turbines can be exorbitant, making it virtually impossible to get started. Pellet stoves and fireplace inserts can be purchased for a fraction of the cost, making pellet heat the most affordable and realistic alternative for many homeowners. In fact, with the current tax credit, it is possible to purchase and install a pellet stove or fireplace insert for as little as $ 2,600.

In addition to the low cost of getting started, heating with pellets can save money on heating bills, particularly for those currently using fuel oil, propane and electricity. Based on 2010 heating season fuel prices and heating a 1,700 square foot home in a cold-climate state(1), switching from fuel oil to pellets can save you approximately $ 800 per heating season. If you are currently heating with propane, the savings would be about $ 1,000, and if currently using electricity, $ 1,800 per heating season.

Pellet heat is a good option for homeowners who want to save money and utilize renewable fuels. In addition to reducing carbon emissions(2), they are heating with a fuel that is grown, harvested and produced right here in the U.S., helping to reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil.

Many homeowners install a pellet stove to work in conjunction with their existing central furnace or boiler. Efficiencies are gained by turning the temperature down 10-15 degrees on the central furnace and using the pellet stove to heat the rooms that are used the most, such as the kitchen and adjoining family or living room. Similar to the concept of a hybrid car, the pellet stove does the primary heating with the furnace as a backup – working together to gain efficiencies and a more environmentally responsible outcome. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy recommends this practice of space heating the areas where you live, as well as closing off unused rooms and leaving bedroom doors open at night. Improving insulation and sealing air leaks in the home will also help to gain maximum heating efficiencies.

In the pellet appliance category, homeowners can choose from free-standing pellet stoves, pellet fireplace inserts that fit into the firebox of an existing wood fireplace, and whole-home heating pellet furnaces and boilers. There is also a pellet fireplace available through Quadra-Fire which is the industry’s only zero clearance pellet fireplace.

The tax credit for pellet/biomass stoves ends Dec. 31, 2010. For a complete listing of pellet appliance products that qualify and to find a dealer, visit http://www.fireplaces.com.

1) Upper New England, Midwest and Northwest states. Assumes whole home heating; complete replacement of current fuel with pellets.

2) For every ton of pellets used vs. oil, CO2 emissions are reduced by about 1.5 tons. Pellet Fuels Institute, http://pelletheat.org/pellets/benefits-of-pellets/

World Earth Day

World Earth Day

On April 22, 1970, the first massive “Earth Day” was held in the United States, which marked the beginning of American environment movement, while urging the U.S government to take some measures to control environment pollution. This activity obtained the approval of UN. Since then, the annual April 22 has been identified as the “World Earth Day”.
The earth is the common home of mankind. However, in recent decades, people are grabbing resources from natural world at its maximum, in the mean time, people also destroyed the global ecological environment, leading to a rapid change of global climate and environment. And now, people began to pay more attention on energy-saving and environmental protection.
In recent years, international community is taking measures to protect the global environment gradually.  And environment issues had been brought into “United Nations Millennium Declaration” drafted in 2000. In February 2006, “Kyoto Protocol” aiming to control greenhouse gas emission entered into force, which marked a big step of environment protection.
“World Earth Day” is coming, shan’t we do something? Resource saving is the first step to protection our globe. Every member of the society should do it from oneself, saving every drop of water, every unit of electricity, using energy-saving products. Taking heating facilities as an example, producing heat with cast iron stove is not only save energy but also with little pollution. Make full use of your existing fireplace, and install a wood stove fireplace insert is a good way to save electricity and coal resource. Maybe, it is not easy to see the immediate interest when we do something. However, the long-term interest is what we chasing. Just like when we want to reduce home heating costs, we bought a wood stove blower which may cost us some money first, but for a long-term return, what we get is not only the sum of our daily savings but also achieve the goal of saving the fuel resource and electricity. So what I want to say is that the interest of future generations is our common responsibility.

Heat Efficient and Non Hazardous Propane Fireplaces for Home Use

Heat Efficient and Non Hazardous Propane Fireplaces for Home Use

Many people have already started using propane fireplaces nowadays. They have opted to use this type of home fireplace because of its convenience. It is very economical as it is very affordable, plus less of hassle because it produces little or no mess at all unlike the traditional wood burning fireplace. Propane, the fuel used in propane fireplaces does not emit any smell. It does not also produce ash or soot, not like wood. The flame of the fireplace can be easily turned on or off by twisting a knob. It also has a starter button for an easy flame start.

There is an estimated 92% heat efficiency of propane fireplaces as compared to wood burning fireplaces which has an estimated 60% only. Propane fireplaces are preferred by most household because it has a lot of advantages over the traditional wood burning and natural gas fireplaces. If you want to have a propane fireplace installed as your home fireplace, you can easily ask the help of a professional. They will be the one to handle the installation.

If you are having space constraints, you can choose a vent less propane fireplace to save on energy. Propane fireplaces are also very heat efficient because a single fireplace can generally heat the whole house because it can generate heat quickly. Although it is mainly operated by an electric starter igniter, you can still use this type of fireplace even if there is no electricity by starting it manually. You also have full control over the heat and flame size of the fireplace by using a remote control. The fuel used in operating this type of home fireplace is also available everywhere, so you do not have to worry about running out of fuel because you can easily find them in the market.

Using your propane fireplace is also an easy thing to do; you do not have to be an expert on this for you to be able to operate it. First you have to turn on the manual shut off valve and wait for it to fully open. This has to be done first to enable the propane gas to enter the propane fireplace and light the igniter. Next, you have to turn on the fireplace’s control knob counterclockwise. See to it that it is in the Pilot setting while holding the control button in.

Propane fireplaces have labels for their buttons so you should be able to find these controls easily. While holding the control knob in, wait for an estimated 5 seconds, and then press the igniter button and release it after. This will light the pilot, but several presses might be required to ensure a connection. After the pilot has been lit, continue to hold the control knob in for about 30 seconds.

From here, you will be able to see the lit flame to change its color from a light blue to a deep purple as the tie passes by. At the tip of the igniter or at the bottom of the flame, there is also a band there that serves as an indicator. If it turns red already, it means that the igniter is hot enough and that you should release the control knob. To choose your desired heat setting, just turn the control knob clockwise. The heat setting ranges from 1 to 5 with 1 as the lowest and 5 as the maximum. After using the home fireplace, make sure that you turn the control knob to the Off position to turn it off.

IS THE SIZZLE MISSING FROM YOUR GAS FIREPLACE? TRY YOUR CD PLAYER.

(PRWEB) February 13, 2002

Cambridge, WI – There’s nothing quite like sitting ny a nice crackling fire. But for the millions of people worldwide who own gas fireplaces, there’s no crackle, just a “hummmm”. No pop. No hiss. No sizzle to accompany the moment.

Unless, of course, you’re got Firesounds playing on your CD player.

Firesounds is a 72-minute professionally-recorded compact disc with nothing but the soothing sounds of a wood burning fireplace.

The three Wisconsinites behind Firesounds believe their product makes a gas fireplaces more like the real thing.

“I grew up in Wisconsin, so as kids, our wood-burning fireplace got a workout every winter,” says Jen Wallman, inventor of Firesounds. “Part of that great memory is the sound. It’s soothing, it’s relaxing. Now with three little kids, I can use all the soothing and relaxing I can get.”

Wallman came up with the idea back in the winter of 2000, just after she and her husband Andy got a gas fireplace insert installed in their home. “It was our first gas fireplace. Right after we got it, I knew what we were missing – the sound of wood.” And lo, Firesounds was born.

She brought the idea of a compact disc to her husband, an advertising producer. After all, she reasoned, his job deals with using lots of sound effects in commercials. Andy took the idea to Rob Haggar, a frequent advertising collaborator, and owner of Haggar Audio in Madison. “We looked around, and couldn’t find any product like this, so we created one ourselves. Now we’re like a mom & pop & next door neighbor kind of company,” explains Haggar.

Haggar recorded all the pops, crackles and snaps of a real wood-burning fire in a large hearth, using a stereo microphone no less. He then edited out some of the sounds that donÂ?t match the constant flame look of a gas fireplace, like the big roar of the newspapers and kindling, really big pops, and falling logs. He then mixed the sounds on a Hollywood-style sound board for use on a home stereo system.

The CD also addresses a big flaw of many gas fireplaces by covering up the annoying hum of the blower motor.

They’ve been selling Firesounds for about two years through their website, www.firesoundscd.com, and are currently looking for distribution through retail stores.

“Reactions have been very strong,” says Andy. “It’s wild. We get lots of email from people who thank us for replacing that missing sensory element. We also get a lot of people who snicker, but after they think about it for a minute, they realize this product genuinely fills a need.”

ItÂ?s a market with great potential. Eleven years ago, gas fireplaces represented 10 percent of the market. Today it’s about 50 percent (American Demographics, November 2000). And with some communities considering a ban on burning wood, gas fireplace use could skyrocket over the coming decade.

The three behind Firesounds hope the soothing effect of the disc will strike a chord with consumers who want to decompress from today’s hectic lifestyle. “When you listen to Firesounds, you seem to naturally relax. Your TV is off. Your home is quite. You get a very pleasant, tranquil feeling,” says Jen Wallman.

And, you get a little sizzle back in your life.

The Firesounds compact disc is $ 13.99, and can be ordered at www.firesoundscd.com or by calling 608-770-6581.

Another negative side of the conventional fireplace is that it is fire hazards. This has resulted to homeowners to find for other alternative such as gas fireplace inserts.

In contrast to fireplace using wood, direct vent fireplace inserts is the best choice because it is safer, easier and cleaner to use.
